VLOGMAS DAY 1

Bailees photoshoot:

This was done in a little over an hour. I made a scheduling error, what was supposed to be a golden hour urban shoot, turned into an adorable coffee shop shoot.

I filmed a bridal shower a few weekends ago and holy toledo I had a blast. It probably sounds cliche to say this was a "learning experience" but it totally was! I have a good friend who is a phenomenal photographer and she gave me some great feedback regarding lighting..it can be tricky sometimes.

Anyway, I am actually going to be filming at the wedding as well so I'll post that when the time comes!

If you want to check out the Bridal Shower, here it is!

Senior Portraits

Shot my little brothers senior photos last week. It was a learning experience, they turned out pretty great, but I still noticed some things that I can do better. I'm glad he is patient and chill, it took me a minute to set my camera right and get a good crisp focus on some of them.

The black and white one is my favorite for sure, I may be a little biased but he's so handsome! Fun fact about my little bro: He marched with Music City for the 2018 DCI season. Im pretty sure he is going to do it again next year after he graduates from high school in the spring. Proud of this kid.

I am less than proficient when it comes to photoshop, I don't want to just slap a preset on my photos and call it "photography" so I am learning to edit, it's coming along very slowly. Some of these do have presets from LR, but I only used a filter as my last step after editing.
I hope you enjoy!

The First Ever

I have a lot of firsts before the year is over.

My first senior session is in a little over a week.

I have a model that I have arranged a shoot with.

I am doing a home shoot with a very sweet family of 5!

I am also preparing for a wedding as a videographer.

2018 is ending with a bang, and I am VERY excited to see where I am this time next year.
There is so much to learn, and I hope my brain can just be a sponge and soak it all up.
I will post some of the pictures from each of these shoots when I have them edited, then I'll share the link to the wedding video when that is done.

Glad you stopped by!

Creative Exercise.

I am in a small group at church specifically for creative arts. Our group leader is an incredible photographer, and she organizes creative ways for us to try new things without it feeling awkward and embarrassing.
We went out on the square of Murfreesboro today and were given a list of things to photograph, but in our own way. Here are my photos from Saturday!

My 22nd Birthday Video

Here's one of the videos I mentioned in my last post. Check it out! Subscribe, all that fun stuff!!

BEACH PHOTOS

I went to the beach last week and really messed up my theme on instagram! Haha.

It's too tempting to post those beautiful blue and white colors!
Any color pops at the beach and I definitely found myself editing in a completely different style than I usually do. I'm only sharing a few on here, you can check out my instagram for the rest! (@melissakfarmer)

My knowledge in editing and photography is limited, I ask a lot of people questions and am looking up tutorials/explanations on YouTube all the time. I've watched and watched, but it's time to get out there and do the dang thing!
My friend was at the beach with me so I took a mother daughter photo of them, so that's who those people are.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking and editing them. I also uploaded a couple new YouTube videos if you want to head over there and see what's happening!

Mother Daughter.

Above are some family photos that I have taken, obviously these are my favorites of different families haha. I love a good mother daughter photo, and these ones touched my heart.

I traveled to Michigan over the summer and, well...it was unforgettable to say the least.

Here are a few photos that I took. If you've ever tried to get a wedding party to slow down so you can get straight lines in your picture, then you'll understand why I only have 3 photos to show for my trip.

I've blogged before, but not like this.

What's up, y'all! I have had my share of blogging experience, but this time I wanted to create something totally different from what I have made in the past.

I used to write about me me me me me. While sometimes it was funny, or encouraging, still, it was me. My perspective. My thoughts. My ideas.

When I was in college I actually pursued a degree in journalism, I learned to write facts, to be unbiased and to double and triple check my sources. I also had the opportunity to interview a variety of people and hear their perspective.

After college I began to seek Jesus. I realized that there are many truths about God that check out way more than three times, there are stories that you get to read from different perspectives.
You can actually find many credible sources, people who have studied the Bible and God for years and years...but I found that the more I tried to figure out God, the more I found myself wanting to go deeper into a relationship with Him, and realizing that there aren't limits that I can put on Him.
He has plans bigger than I can imagine, and if my imagination is my own limit, then certainly the creator of my imagination is way beyond my understanding.

I'm oddly okay with that. I'm an ENTP for those of you who care, and usually my logic stalls my creativity because, well, if it doesn't make sense then I dismiss it. (You can take the Meyers Briggs test and understand what I mean by ENTP if you don't already know. Its super cool!)

My point in all of this is that combining the truth that God is good, He is kind and He is the ultimate creator with any ounce of a vision that He has placed in me will go far beyond what I can understand.

I hope that you'll enjoy following along as I grow and learn. I can't wait to see what He does!

I am just now stepping into something new: cinematography. It's been extremely enjoyable to learn about, but now it's time for me to quit watching tutorials and try it out. So you'll see some of that on my YouTube channel (I'll link it somewhere haha) and probably some photography as well.

Writing has long been a passion of mine and I dont want to let it dry up! This blog is a step. Any step is better than staying still.

Again, I hope that you enjoy this.
